I was commissioned by a bright group to design an application for their final pitch in the national competition Mashroo3i – Youth Business Awards (2017). Their app idea was a gifting platform with a distinctive collaborative function. The collaborative function is the core of the app. It allows users to decide with friends and family on what gifts to purchase for upcoming occasions: birthdays, graduations, newborns, et cetera, et cetera. Working closely with the pitching team was super smooth and fun. Partly because I personally had a soft spot for gift-giving, and partly because we all shared the same principle of how an MVP should be as simple as possible.

Browsing

Browsing

For a simple and comfortable user experience, the app's main navigational structure consists only of a four-tabs menu; the tabs in order are: Browse, Boards, Cart & Account. The first tab (browsing) features gifts in a carousel on top followed by all gifts. Each gift row has a quick bookmark button to save gifts as ideas into an occasion's board. Say you found something you think a friend, a spouse or a relative might like, you can simply add it to a specific board along with other gift ideas.

Besides the ability to create new boards manually, boards are also created automatically for upcoming occasions based on a users calendar (birthdays, anniversaries, et cetera, et cetera). Boards can be private or shared with other participants to poll what gift to buy.
